Fiber glass insulation in Ireland

Fiber glass insulation is a type of insulation that is made from fine glass fibers. It is a popular choice for insulating homes and buildings here in Ireland because it is affordable, easy to install, and highly effective at reducing heat loss and improving energy efficiency.

There are a number of thicknesses available and some types also have improved acoustic qualities – so help to restrict sound moving between rooms or neighbouring properties etc.

Fiber glass insulation

The majority of our fiber glass insulation comes in rolls. These are typically used in the likes of the attic or in ceilings etc. Some other products such as Rockwool Flexi Slabs are supplied as flexible slabs that are easy to cut and these are ideal for use in partition walls and ceiling joists as they will not droop and sag over time.

All of these are available in a variety of sizes and thicknesses, meaning you can find the right solution for your project (and budget).

One of the main benefits of fiber glass insulation is its ability to reduce heat loss. Heat can escape from a home or building through the walls, roof, and windows, and fiberglass insulation helps to trap the heat inside. This results in a warmer, more comfortable living or working environment, and can also help to reduce heating costs. The calculations and terminology used for this is all explained in this article here.

Fiberglass insulation is non-combustible, which means that it will not catch fire or contribute to the spread of flames in the event of a fire. This makes it a safe choice for use in homes and other buildings. You can use this type of insulation in ceilings even when there are electrical wires and cables (but obviously you must ensure that any cables are in good condition).

Another advantage of fiberglass insulation is that it is easy to install. It can be simply rolled out and placed between wall studs or ceiling joists, while insulation slabs can be installed quickly and easily using a basic utility knife to cut to size.

One of the few disadvantages of fiber glass insulation is that it can irritate the skin, eyes, and respiratory system if it is not handled properly. It is important to wear protective clothing and a mask when installing fiberglass insulation, and to follow all safety guidelines provided by the manufacturer.

Overall, fiber glass insulation is an excellent choice for anyone looking to improve the energy efficiency of their home or building. It is affordable, easy to install, and highly effective at reducing heat loss and improving indoor comfort. With proper installation and maintenance, fiberglass insulation can provide many years of reliable service and help to reduce energy costs while enhancing the overall quality of life in a home or building.
