Unilin Thin-R XT/CW (T&G) is a partial fill cavity wall insulation board designed for traditional masonry cavity walls.

It uses engineered tongue and groove joints and pre-formed corner solutions to ensure insulation continuity, reduce thermal bridging, and maintain a clear residual cavity for protection against wind-driven rain.

The system forms part of a complete cavity wall insulation solution and can be used alongside optional cavity closers and pre-formed corner panels.

Features:
  • High-quality PIR tongue & groove cavity wall insulation
  • 60mm thick boards
  • 3.78m² coverage per pack
  • 7 boards per pack
  • Board size: 1200mm x 450mm x 60mm
  • Robust tongue & groove jointing for tight installation
  • Pre-formed corner compatibility (XT/CRN) to reduce thermal bridging
  • Clear residual cavity maintained
  • Low emissivity foil facings to improve thermal performance
  • No exposure restrictions
  • Suitable for tradespeople and DIY installation
  • Part of the Unilin Thin-R cavity insulation system
  • See the Product Brochure and Installation Instructions here

  • If you require very large quantities then you can call us on 0818 888 000 and we can provide a separate quotation for very large quantities.
Technical Performance:
  • Thermal conductivity: 0.021 W/m·K (BS EN 13165:2008)
  • Thermal resistance (60mm): 2.70 m²K/W
  • Compressive strength: >120 kPa
  • Reaction to fire: NPD / Euroclass F (as declared)
  • Material: PIR (Polyisocyanurate) insulation
System Benefits:

The XT/CW (T&G) system is designed to create a continuous insulation layer through its engineered tongue and groove edges, improving installation consistency and reducing thermal bridging.

Pre-formed corner panels and cavity closers (available separately) help reduce cold spots at junctions, improving overall thermal performance of the wall.

The system maintains a residual cavity, which is the air gap left between the insulation board and outer leaf. This provides protection against wind-driven rain penetration and is a key requirement in cavity wall construction.

Recommended residual cavity width: 50mm in accordance with agrément certification (a reduced cavity may be acceptable depending on specification).

Low emissivity foil facings further enhance thermal efficiency by reflecting heat back into the building.

Installation, Handling & Storage:
  • Store boards off the ground on a clean, flat surface
  • Store undercover – polythene wrapping is not sufficient protection outdoors
  • Protect insulation during storage and construction
  • Cut using a sharp knife or fine-toothed saw
  • Ensure tight-fitting joints for thermal continuity
  • Appropriate PPE should be worn during handling and installation
  • Refer to manufacturer Health & Safety data sheets for full guidance
  • Boards are supplied in labelled polythene packs showing grade, size, and quantity
  • Avoid contact with acids, petrol, alkalis, and mineral oils. If contamination occurs, clean safely before installation.
Durability:

Unilin PIR insulation boards are stable, rot-proof, and designed to perform for the lifetime of the building when correctly specified and installed.
