Frenchic Paint

Frenchic Jubilee Metallic Paint is a water-based decorative paint with a gleaming, light silvery platinum finish.

Designed to create distinctive metallic effects, it is ideal for furniture, doors, kitchen cupboards, decorative woodwork and other suitable surfaces.

The metallic finish adds depth and character to interior and exterior painting projects.

Frenchic Jubilee Metallic Paint is weatherproof, self-priming and self-sealing on suitable, correctly prepared surfaces.

It can be applied to wood, laminate, uPVC, radiators, ceramic wall tiles and other compatible surfaces, subject to appropriate preparation.

The metallic pigments create a decorative finish with subtle variations in texture and appearance, particularly when applied using a brush.

For a stronger metallic effect, Frenchic recommends using a similar-coloured base coat from its Al Fresco or Lazy Range before applying Jubilee.

Frenchic confirms EN71-3 certification for use on children's toys when applied in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

Metallic Finish and Appearance

Frenchic Jubilee Metallic Paint contains metallic pigments that create a shimmering platinum finish.

Because of the metallic pigment content, the finished surface may show subtle variations in texture, sheen and brush marks.

This characteristic can be used to create decorative hand-painted effects.

For a more uniform appearance, use a suitable application technique and avoid excessive brushing as the paint begins to dry.

Spray application may be considered where a smoother finish is required, following Frenchic's instructions and the spray equipment manufacturer's recommendations.

A similar-coloured Frenchic Al Fresco or Lazy Range base coat is recommended for a stronger metallic appearance.

Coverage

A 500ml tin provides coverage of up to 4m² per coat, depending on the surface and application method.

For a durable finish, a minimum of two coats is required.

On suitable non-porous surfaces, a 500ml tin should provide approximately 2m² of coverage when applying two coats.

Porous surfaces, including bare wood and MDF, may absorb more paint and require additional coats.

Actual coverage depends on surface porosity, preparation, application thickness and the desired metallic effect.

Avoid applying the paint too thinly, as this may affect durability.

Surface Preparation

Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, sound and free from grease, wax, loose paint and other contaminants before painting.

Remove any loose or flaking paint from previously painted surfaces.

Clean surfaces thoroughly using Frenchic Sugar Soap, rinse and allow to dry completely.

Lightly sand surfaces where appropriate to provide a suitable key for paint adhesion.

Remove all sanding dust before applying paint.

Porous surfaces, including bare wood and MDF, may require additional preparation before painting.

For bare or rusty ferrous metal, remove rust and loose coatings before applying a suitable metal primer according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Previously treated or difficult surfaces may require additional preparation or specialist priming.

Exterior wooden surfaces must be thoroughly dry before painting, particularly after rainfall.

Take care when opening the tin and use a suitable paint tin opener.

Stir thoroughly with a wide implement, such as a paint paddle, before each use to distribute the metallic pigments evenly.

Application Conditions

For best results, apply when air and surface temperatures are between 10°C and 32°C and relative humidity is below 85%.

Avoid painting in direct sunlight or when surfaces are excessively hot.

For exterior applications, do not paint if rain, frost, fog, condensation or temperatures below 10°C are expected within the following 48 hours.

Ensure surfaces are completely dry before application.

Check the manufacturer's current instructions and local weather conditions before beginning outdoor painting projects.

Application and Drying

Apply using a good-quality paintbrush or roller suitable for decorative metallic paint.

Work evenly across the surface to achieve the desired metallic appearance.

Avoid overworking the paint or repeatedly brushing over areas as they begin to dry.

For spray application, the paint may be thinned with up to 15% tap water where permitted by Frenchic's current instructions and suitable for the equipment being used.

Additional coats may be required when paint is thinned for spraying.

Allow a minimum of 2 hours between coats, depending on temperature, humidity and application conditions.

Apply at least two coats to achieve the intended finish and durability.

Additional coats may be required on porous surfaces or where a stronger metallic effect is desired.

Allow the painted surface to dry thoroughly before returning it to normal use.

Curing and Durability

Frenchic Metallic Paint may take up to 3 weeks to fully cure and achieve its intended hardness under normal conditions.

Handle freshly painted surfaces carefully during the curing period.

Avoid heavy use, abrasion, excessive cleaning and prolonged moisture exposure until the paint has fully cured.

For exterior projects, follow Frenchic's preparation, application and curing recommendations to achieve the intended weather-resistant finish.

Using Frenchic Metallic Paint on Floors

Frenchic Metallic Paint can be used on certain interior wooden, concrete and laminate floors, subject to correct preparation and the manufacturer's suitability guidance.

Painted floors may require ongoing maintenance depending on foot traffic, cleaning and wear.

Avoid walking on newly painted floors for at least 4 hours after application.

For the following 7 days, walk on the surface wearing socks rather than outdoor footwear.

Keep pets and their claws away from freshly painted floors during this initial curing period.

Do not allow the painted surface to become wet for at least one week.

Treat the floor carefully for up to 3 weeks while the paint fully cures.

Cleaning and Storage

Reseal the tin securely after use.

Clean up spills promptly using water.

Wash brushes, rollers and application equipment in warm, soapy water immediately after painting.

Store the tin securely in a dry location, protected from damp, frost, freezing conditions and excessive heat.
