Coverage

A 750ml tin covers up to 8m² per coat, depending on the surface and application method.

Full visual coverage may require additional coats depending on the original surface colour, porosity and desired decorative effect.

Porous surfaces may absorb more paint and require additional coats.

Surface Preparation

Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, sound and free from wax, grease, loose paint and other contaminants before painting.

Remove any loose or flaking paint from previously painted surfaces.

Clean using Frenchic Sugar Soap, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry completely.

Lightly sand surfaces as appropriate to provide a suitable key for painting.

Remove all sanding dust before applying paint.

For bare MDF and other highly porous surfaces, additional preparation may be required.

For a smoother finish on bare MDF, Frenchic recommends applying two coats of Frenchic Finishing Coat before painting.

For bare or rusty ferrous metal, remove rust and apply a suitable metal primer before painting.

Take care when opening the tin and use a suitable paint tin opener.

Stir thoroughly with a wide implement, such as a paint paddle, before each use.

Application, Drying and Sealing

Apply using a good-quality paintbrush or roller suitable for furniture painting.

Work evenly across the surface and avoid repeatedly brushing over paint as it begins to dry.

Allow a minimum of 1 hour between coats, depending on temperature, humidity and application conditions.

Lightly sand between coats if required to achieve your desired finish.

For decorative finishes, use suitable layering, distressing or texturing techniques.

Once the paint has dried sufficiently, seal using a suitable Frenchic top coat or furniture wax according to the manufacturer's application instructions.

Allow up to 2–3 weeks for full curing under normal conditions.

Avoid heavy use, excessive cleaning or placing heavy objects on newly painted surfaces while the coating is curing.

When using multiple tins for the same project, check batch numbers and intermix paint where necessary to maintain colour consistency.

Cleaning and Storage

Reseal the tin securely after use.

Clean up spills promptly using water.

Wash brushes, rollers and equipment in warm, soapy water immediately after painting.

Store the tin securely in a dry location, protected from damp, frost, freezing conditions and excessive heat.
