Key features:

  • SR82 Roofing Battons made from treated timber
  • Pressure treated to help prevent degradation from rotting and insect attacks – brown colour
  • 50mm x 35mm x 4.8m
  • Ideal for Trades people and for DIY

The construction industry here in Ireland normally specifies SR82 battons as they are a standardised size and have been manufactured to agreed standards.

SR82 Roofing Battens made from treated timber are an evolution of traditional roofing battens that incorporates wood that has undergone a specialised preservation process. Treated timber is impregnated with preservatives that enhance its resistance to decay, pests, and weathering, making it an ideal material for outdoor applications, especially in roofing systems.

Sustainable Material:

One of the key advantages of using treated timber for roofing battens is its sustainability. Timber is a renewable resource, and when sourced from responsibly managed forests, it becomes an eco-friendly choice that contributes to the reduction of carbon emissions.

Enhanced Durability:

The treatment process significantly improves the timber’s natural resistance to decay, fungi, and insects. This added durability ensures that the SR82 battens can endure the challenges posed by moisture, UV exposure, and temperature fluctuations, prolonging their lifespan.

Load-Bearing Strength:

SR82 Roofing Battens made from treated timber possess excellent load-bearing capabilities, providing reliable support for various roofing materials and preventing structural issues caused by sagging or warping.

Treated timber battens are a cost-effective solution in comparison to alternative materials, as they offer a balance between affordability and durability, reducing the need for frequent replacements.

Timber is relatively lightweight, making it easier for builders to handle and install SR82 battens during roofing projects, saving time and labor costs.

Aesthetic Appeal:

The natural beauty of timber adds a touch of warmth and charm to the roof structure, making it an attractive choice for both traditional and contemporary architectural designs.

Advantages of SR82 Roofing Battens Made from Treated Timber

  • Environmental Responsibility: Opting for treated timber battens supports sustainable forestry practices, promoting the use of renewable resources and contributing to the conservation of forests.
  • Longevity and Low Maintenance: The preservation treatment enhances the timber’s lifespan, reducing the need for replacements and regular maintenance. This, in turn, minimizes waste generation and lowers the overall environmental impact.
  • Resistance to Decay and Pests: Treated timber battens are less susceptible to decay and insect infestations, ensuring a stronger and healthier roofing structure that stands the test of time.
  • Versatility: SR82 Roofing Battens made from treated timber can be used for various roofing materials, including tiles, slates, shingles, and metal sheets, offering flexibility in design and construction.

Applications of SR82 Roofing Battens Made from Treated Timber

SR82 Roofing Battens made from treated timber find extensive use in:

  • Residential Roofing: From traditional to contemporary homes, treated timber battens provide a reliable and eco-friendly base for various roofing materials, complementing any architectural style.
  • Eco-Conscious Construction: Sustainable construction projects that prioritize environmental responsibility can benefit from the use of treated timber battens, aligning with green building standards.
  • Restoration Projects: When renovating historic buildings, treated timber battens offer an authentic and environmentally sensitive roofing solution, preserving the structure’s original charm while ensuring durability.
  • Renovation and extension projects
  • General DIY projects

SR82 Roofing Battens made from treated timber exemplify a harmonious balance between strength, sustainability, and aesthetic appeal. By harnessing the power of preservation techniques, these battens provide a reliable foundation for roofing structures, ensuring long-lasting performance while reducing environmental impact. Incorporating treated timber battens in construction projects not only promotes responsible forestry practices but also contributes to the creation of durable and eco-friendly roofing solutions. Embracing this innovation allows the roofing industry to pave the way for a greener and more sustainable future.
