The popularity of Fire Pits and Chimineas during lockdowns was easy to understand. If you had any friends or family over and you were all sitting outside then any bit of heat and comfort was and is always welcomed. You could sit outside that bit longer and there is undoubtedly something about the look and smell of a fire that helps everyone relax.

There was a shortage of Fire Pits in Ireland during 2020 and some people took to fashioning their own from all sorts of materials including drums from washing machines but thankfully that is no longer required. We have sourced some brilliant models to choose from and can help you decide what is the best one to go for.

Fire Pit name: Camacha Fire Pit

Why we like it:

The Camacha has a really modern and contemporary look thanks to the black paint, the circular shape and the mesh grill finish. This circular roof does a great job of maintaining heat and the handy storage area for logs underneath stops everyone tripping over them which is the last thing you need with a fire on the go.

Any drawbacks?

The size of the Camacha is better suited to smaller groups and a smaller seating area. If you have a larger outdoor seating area or bigger groups congregating then a bigger model might be better.

Why we like it:

The size of the Brooklyn is a great feature so it is ideal for larger spaces or when larger groups are meeting up. The chrome cooking grill is a real hit and means you can throw on some grub as you enjoy the evening and graze on snacks as you go. It is extremely durable too so gives great value over time.

Any drawbacks?

The industrial styling which invokes the Brooklyn Bridge is very striking and might not be to everyone’s taste – but it does the job well which is the main thing.

Why we like it:

The high smoke stack on the Santana model helps to direct the smoke away from everyone sitting nearby and that is always welcome. We also love the perforated mesh steel look which gives a very contemporary look and will is particularly suited to new build gardens / patios etc. It is also very durable and will give years of service.

Any drawbacks?

The absence of a cooking grill means it is just used for heating and the design doesn’t leave room for storage space for logs and fuel etc as part of the fire pit itself.

Overview:

If you want to make sure the smoke has every chance of getting away and you want a stylish and effective fire pit then this is the one for you.

Fire Pit name: La Hacienda Sierra Extra Large Chiminea

Why we like it:

We love the classic Chiminea style of the Sierra model from La Hacienda. It is made from cast iron so it is heavy weight and radiates heat wonderfully once you get the fire going well and then retains this heat very effectively too.

You can slide in the cooking grill easily to get some BBQ snacks on the go and what could be better than sitting around something like this with tasty grub and something nice to sip on?

The smoke stack helps divert smoke away and this is even equipped with a rain lid.

Any drawbacks?

The full cast iron heavyweight design is a classic old style which just might not be to everyone’s tastes.

Overview:

This is just a terrific all round Chiminea – it looks great, does a brilliant job of radiating and retaining heat and also allows you to cook up treats while enjoying sitting outside.

Fire Pit name: Garden Burner Fire Pit

Why we like it:

This does exactly what it is supposed to do without any fuss and the design of it is in such a way to try to reduce smoke and fumes. This has been designed and crafted here in Ireland and it is very easy to move about and store out of sight when not in use. This is designed for using kiln dried logs so they won’t spit as much as damper wood.

Any drawbacks?

The stainless steel design maybe doesn’t have the same charm as the likes of the Sierra Chiminea but if you want an effective and efficient fire pit at a great price point then this is perfect.

A great value all round fire pit that can be stored away easily when not in use.
