Step 1:

Before you even start to think about how to change a bathroom tap you need to know where your mains water supply can be turned off. The very first thing to do is to turn off the water supply to the bathroom taps that you are working on. The isolation valve for the bathroom taps is normally under the sink and you just rotate it to turn it off. If you can’t find the isolation valve, you will need to turn off the mains water supply to your home and that is normally under the kitchen sink.

Step 2:

Remove the old tap. Once the water supply is turned off, you can begin removing the old tap. First, remove any decorative caps or handles on the tap. Use a wrench to loosen the mounting nuts that hold the tap in place. Once the nuts are loose, you can remove the old tap from the sink.

Step 3:

Clean the sink Before installing the new tap, clean the area where the old tap was mounted. Remove any old plumber’s putty or silicone caulk from the sink.

Step 4:

Install the new tap. Insert the new tap into the holes in the sink. Make sure the tap is level and secure. Tighten the mounting nuts with a wrench, being careful not to over-tighten them. Attach any decorative caps or handles that came with the new tap.

Step 5:

Connect the water supply. Once the new tap is securely mounted, you can connect the water supply. Connect the hot and cold water supply lines to the corresponding valves on the tap. Tighten the connections with a wrench.

Step 6:

Test the new tap. Once the water supply is connected, turn on the water supply and test the new tap. Check for leaks and make sure the tap is functioning properly. If there are any leaks, tighten the connections or replace any faulty parts.
