Back Boiler Stove with Eco Design Approval – meet the Stanley Reginald 15.5kw
This year has saw a massive increase in the amount of people in Ireland looking at a back boiler stove.
The recent rise in energy and fuel costs has caused people to once again look at solid fuel stoves with a boiler to heat radiators. Thankfully there are some terrific options available on the market today that are efficient, clean and look fantastic too.
One of the best options for this type of solid fuel stove is the Stanley Reginald Boiler stove which generates a heat output of 15.5kw (23kW with the fire brick removed).
This gorgeous stove is Eco Design approved which means it meets the new EU regulations for efficiency along with generating less pollutants.
It also looks fantastic and Stanley have offered this in both a shiny black enamel finish or a matt black finish – giving you the option to best suit your own style and taste.
This stove is three times more efficient than an open fire and can heat up to sixteen radiators (with the firebrick removed). As a room heater it is more than suitable for a medium to large sized room. There is 5kw sent to the room and 10.5kw sent to the radiators (18kW sent to radiators with the fire brick removed).

In terms of looks, the Stanley Reginald is very striking. The large viewing glass is really popular as you get to enjoy the look of the flames along with enjoying the heat that is radiated.
Stanley have incorporated a curved shape on the glass frame along with indented curves on the side. This helps this stove to look contemporary and modern while also retaining the traditional look that is still so popular. The glass is also easier to keep clean these days thanks to the air wash system in place. It helps air to flow over the glass while in use so keeps dust and dirt off the glass surface.
This is a free standing stove so is supported by four legs that extrude out from the base. This will look brilliant in almost any setting or type of decor.
You can burn seasoned dried timber, coal, anthracite, turf and seasoned peat briquettes. It is vital however that any fuel is dried out properly as anything with a high moisture content will not burn as efficiently and also potentially damage the stove.
There is a secondary air inlet which means the fuel is burned more efficiently and cleaner and the large ash pan helps you empty it out with less mess too.
You can connect the flue to the top or the rear and it comes with a five year warranty giving you great peace of mind. If you want to read more about the Eco Design policy that was introduced within the EU in 2022 then you can enjoy some light reading here
